On Sunday, June 23rd, three NETA Cares runners took the challenging 6.2-mile course along Commonwealth Avenue for the third year in a row. They were running for both NETA Cares and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The team met bright and early in the morning before their run. You could feel the excitement in the air. Going three years strong, this year had the most optimal weather by far. High 70s and breezy! That made enduring the long stretch on Commonwealth Avenue bearable. In previous years, staying cool was always the biggest challenge. With the weather on our side, our fastest runner, Security Specialist, Kyle, crossed the finish line in 44 mins and some seconds. One of NETA’s fastest runners!
Kyle commented, “I ran the BAA 10k because running has always been a hobby of mine and helps keep me sharp physically and mentally. Getting the chance to run with the NETA cares team in support of Brigham and Women’s Hospital was an amazing experience, and I look forward to more opportunities with NETA Cares.”
Bry, Operations Specialist and another unbelievably fast runner, said, “Running the BAA 10K with the NETA Cares team has become an annual tradition for me. This is my third run and each one is a little different but so much fun. It feels good to walk the downtown streets of Boston in recovery after the event knowing that your efforts will help improve and expand care at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.”
