On Sunday, August 25th, members of NETA Cares enjoyed a totally rad 80’s party to celebrate Victory Programs’ Summer Sports Tea Dance. Victory Programs teamed up with dBar and FLAG Flag Football to bring a memorable evening full of dancing, prize-winning, mingling, and more! This event celebrated the LGBTQ+ community and brought awareness to crucial services for thousands of individuals and families facing challenges like homelessness, substance use disorders, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis.

This year’s Tea Dance brought in nearly $24,000! Funds go a long way to support the individuals and families served by Victory Programs year after year.

Booths with tacos, Tito’s and treats surrounded everyone as the bash kicked off at dBar in Dorchester. NETA Cares brought a prize wheel with rainbow-themed prizes for guests to win. The temporary tattoos were a total hit! You could feel the positive vibes throughout the entire scene, almost everyone was grooving to the 80’s music.

Michael, NETA Brookline PSA, expressed, “I am so proud to be part of the NETA Cares Team.  I work with an amazing group of people who care so deeply; who demonstrate daily true compassion, empathy and care for our patients, clients, co-workers and community in a open, welcoming, fun work place.  To join with them in celebrating the gay community at Tea Dance gave me a chance to get to know my colleagues on a more personal level and just have some fun together! The visitors to our “tent” had a lot of fun with us and also had an opportunity to learn about our products and mission.  Many said they would be coming to the dispensary for products they didn’t know existed! Can’t wait for the next NETA Cares event.”

Chris, NETA Brookline PSA, commented, “I enjoyed reaching out to individuals and educating them on our products. I volunteered because I love helping the community any way I can for I am part of the community myself.”
