On Saturday, September 23rd, NETA Cares sponsored Buddy Dog Humane Society’s largest annual fundraiser, Woofstock. Hundreds of dogs (and humans) gathered in efforts to increase awareness of animal adoption and entice attendees to donate money for the dogs and cats currently residing at Buddy Dog’s facility in Sudbury, MA. NETA Cares even had the opportunity of hosting a photo booth and prize wheel activity, all free of charge to participants.

The NETA Cares team showed up ready to tackle the heat that day with two big coolers of ice and water for any hot pups. They also had a tent to provide some shade from the beating sun. Over 100 prizes were given out to anyone who spun the colorful prize wheel, including squeak toys, tennis balls, portable water dishes, bandanas, paw charms and ball launcher toys. Anyone that visited the NETA Cares booth was greeted by the two dog mascots, Thor and Rosco. Click through our gallery to see these welcoming pups in action.

Samantha, NETA Brookline Store Manager, said, “My own pup, Rosco, is a rescue and I can’t imagine life without him. I participated in Woofstock because I think it’s important to stand up for those who don’t have their own voice, and that includes pets. Animals are often discarded or forgotten about, for a variety of reasons, and it takes events like Woofstock and companies like NETA to bring awareness to these issues. I am happy to have had the opportunity to not only go to Woofstock but to have also participated.”

The NETA Cares team created a little time tension for our own staff. With only ten unique, rainbow tie-dyed branded t-shirts, staff was told they would be distributed as a “first come, first serve” basis. The team successfully handed out the ten shirts, and met many of their dogs along the way. We met Lucy, Cookie, and many others. It was truly a wonderful dog meet-and-greet session!

Mikayla, NETA Cares admin + Community Relations Manager, commented, “Even with the heat, this was such a great day! I was so happy to see the large amounts of support from everyone for Buddy Dog Humane Society. We had so much fun with our prize wheel and photo frame. We met so many people and pups; I’m glad everyone was able to meet Thor, too. He loves playing with other dogs and especially loves being pet by new human friends!”

Buddy Dog was happy to announce that everyone helped them achieve their fundraising goal of $35,000 for the humane society. Needless to say, Woofstock 2017 was a great success!
